of Ice cream and Ikea

So my children love to go places, anywhere really. When the front door opens they are running to the car whether you want them to or not. A week or so ago we needed something from Ikea. We knew exactly what it was so this was going to be a short trip. Everybody piled in the car. Adrian promised that if they behaved, we could get ice cream while we were there. Our kids love ice cream and it is really frozen yogurt there, but they love that too. So everything starts out well, then they start running around. and running farther, and not coming back when we call them, and generally losing all ice cream privileges all together. So what did we do? We reminded them. and reminded them. and gave them another chance. And nothing worked. So when we got to the ice cream counter we tried a little love and logic. Mason had been an angel the whole time so he got ice cream. I got a cinnamon roll, and Adrian got an ice cream. Ashley and Lily didn't get anything. There was crying and pleading and sincere apologies, but still no ice cream.

Last week we had a chance to go back for something, but I think the real reason was to follow up with out little Love and Logic lesson. We went to Ikea and walked around. It worked great. They helped each other to remember to stay close. They were so funny because they decided they would jog instead of run, but never out of our sight. They listened to our directions. It really was like magic. And everybody got ice cream. 1 situation down, 10 million to go.
